Teams Withdrawing from CS:GO and CS2 Majors: An In Depth Look

The world of esports Counter Strike has witnessed its share of unexpected events. One such occurrence involves teams deciding to withdraw from Majors. In this article we will explore the instances where teams had to pull out from some of the most important events in their careers and will dive into the reasons behind their choices and the consequences that followed.

TyLoos exit from ELEAGUE Major 2018

TyLoo, the best-known Chinese team officially announced their withdrawal from the ELEAGUE Major 2018. The team pointed to visa complications as the factor leading to their decision. This Major would have marked their debut appearance. TyLoos absence at the event dealt a blow to both the team and their supporters who had been eagerly anticipating their performance after weeks of preparation.

In response to TyLoos departure ELEAGUE had to find a replacement for the tournament. With ten days remaining before the qualifier began ELEAGUE actively sought out a replacement from the Asia Minor. Flash, finishing third in the Asia Minor competition emerged as the candidate for substitution with MVP PK securing place right, behind them.

ELEAGUE later verified that Flash would step in for TyLoo during the phase of the event.

Same Major - same issue

The absence of 100 Thieves from the ELEAGUE Major was a development. The team surprised many by announcing on Twitter that they would not be participating in the Major citing "immigration issues". This decision came as a shock especially since they had secured their spot at the Major by finishing at the PGL Major Krakow while playing under Immortals.

In response to 100 Thieves withdrawal ELEAGUE revealed that one of the three teams with a 2 3 record from the stage would take their place. The second and third ranked teams based on their opponents strength would compete in a of one match with the victor facing off against the ranked team for the final spot in the Majors New Legends Stage.

Most recent incident

Recently there have been rumors circulating about 9Pandas missing out on the PGL Major Copenhagen. The reason for this withdrawal is... yes, you guessed it right, visa issues. GamerLegion is said to be prepared to step if 9Pandas indeed decide not to participate.

The worst part is, 4 out of 5 team's members have never been to a Major, even though glowiing is already 30 years old and iDISBALANCE is about to hit 28 soon. Denis 'seized' Kostin, the only squad member with Major experience, have been waiting for another opportunity since the ELEAGUE Major 2018.
