The rebuilt roster of G2 Esports scored a very important victory in the kickoff of the Esports World Cup against The MongolZ. This breathtaking 2-0 win featured a close game in Ancient, with a score of 13-11, and another one on Inferno, with the score at 16-13.

The MongolZ really put G2 Esports to the test and had to have star performances from a couple of players. Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov and Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač delivered 48 frags combined on Ancient to help the team lock a 13-11 win. The squad had to go through a 6-10 Inferno CT deficit before finally taking the map in overtime with a score of 16-13.

The match also marked the debut of Janusz "⁠Snax⁠" Pogorzelski as G2's new in-game leader. Snax is famous for his intellectual and veteran role, thus adding another dimension to the team. "I try as much as possible to call," said Snax, "I have a lot of experienced players on the team, who take a lot of calling. I had a bit more space than in practice, but, for a first match with little practice, a win is a win" he added

On the other hand, Mario "⁠malbsMd⁠" Samayoa, another new entry to G2, showcased his fragging power in full, specifically during important rounds on Ancient and Inferno. Of highlight was Round 24 of Ancient where he picked up a double entry in Middle with a saved AK. A joyful malbsMd was excited post-match: "Great first match with the team! Super happy to get my first win with the guys, thanks to everyone who supported us, first quarter-final in a tournament for me."
