CS2 Community Seeks Changes in Agent Cosmetics: A Game Changer for the Pro Scene?

The CS community is making a splash this week with demands for a major change in agent cosmetics. If accepted, this could greatly affect the Counter-Strike competitive scene, especially as we approach the launch of the Source 2 update this year.

The professional scene has long operated under an unwritten pact involving the use of agent cosmetics. Now, fans believe that CS2 is the perfect platform to overturn this longstanding gentleman’s agreement.

On June 9, CS fans suggested that the sequel's improved visibility could allow pros to start using cosmetics again. They noted that Valve has already made big changes to lighting and visibility on each map. They believe a few more tweaks could solve the problem.

While Valve did attempt to adjust the visibility of cosmetics a few years ago, the issue has been around in the CS:GO pro scene for the past half-decade.

One problem is that some agent skins give bonuses on certain competitive maps. For example, players on Overpass could blend into vine-covered walls, making them hard to see.

To avoid these issues, CS fans have proposed that Valve implement a universal rule where all agent hitboxes remain the same. Some even suggested an alternative solution - include the agent skins, but allow players the option to disable them if they wish.

However, not everyone agrees. Many CS:GO fans feel that there's no room for agent skins in competitive play, insisting on a completely fair environment.

The question now is, will Valve listen and change cosmetics? If they do, we might see a shift in pro players' attitudes. For now, though, all we can do is wait to see if the CS2 developers will take these suggestions on board.
