How to 1v1 in CS2

Playing 1v1 matches in Counter-Strike 2 is a great way to test your skills against a friend or practice in a focused environment. This guide will walk you through the steps to set up a 1v1 match. Let's get started!

Setting Up a 1v1 Match in CS2

Follow these steps to set up a private 1v1 match:

Step 1: Enable the Developer Console

The developer console allows you to enter commands to customize your game.

  1. Launch CS2 and click on the Settings (gear icon).

  2. Go to the Game tab.

  3. Find "Enable Developer Console (~)" and set it to "Yes".

  4. Click Apply to save changes.

Step 2: Start a Private Match

  1. From the main menu, click on Play CS2.

  2. Select Practice.

  3. Choose a map suitable for 1v1 matches (e.g., Mirage or any map you prefer).

  4. Set the game mode to Casual or Competitive.

  5. Click Go to start the game.

Step 3: Remove Bots

To ensure it's just you and your friend, remove all bots:

  1. Once the game starts, press the ~ key to open the developer console.

  2. Type bot_kick and press Enter.

Step 4: Get Your IP Address Using the "status" Command

Your friend will need your IP address to connect to your game. Here's how to find it:

  1. Open the developer console by pressing the ~ key.

  2. Type status and press Enter.

  3. In the console output, look for a line that starts with udp/ip.

  4. Your IP address will be displayed next to udp/ip, like this: udp/ip 192.168.1.100:27015.

  5. Note down the IP address (the numbers before the colon). In this example, it is 192.168.1.100.

Note: If you and your friend are on the same local network, this local IP address will work. If you're connecting over the internet, you'll need your public IP address. To find it, search "what is my IP" in a web browser. Additionally, you may need to set up port forwarding on your router for port 27015.

Step 5: Have Your Friend Connect to Your Game

Your friend can now join your game using the console:

  1. Your friend should launch CS2 and open the developer console (~ key).

  2. They should type connect [your_ip_address] and press Enter.

  3. Replace [your_ip_address] with the IP address you provided. For example, connect 192.168.1.100.

Step 6: Configure Game Settings

For a smooth 1v1 experience, adjust the game settings using console commands:

  • Set round time: mp_roundtime 60

  • Disable freeze time: mp_freezetime 0

  • Allow buying anywhere: mp_buy_anywhere 1

  • Give maximum money: mp_maxmoney 60000 and mp_startmoney 60000

  • Restart the game to apply settings: mp_restartgame 1

For a better 1v1 experience, you can use custom maps designed for duels.

  4. Click on a map you like and click Subscribe to download it.

How to Play on a Workshop Map

  1. Launch CS2 and click on Play CS2.

  2. Select Workshop Maps.

  3. Choose the map you subscribed to.

  4. Start the game and follow the previous steps to remove bots and have your friend connect.
