Level Five Service Medal: Pink
Level Six Service Medal: Red
The 2025 Service Medals in CS2 will become available on Jan. 1, 2025, according to update notes released on Dec. 18.
How do service medals work in CS2?
You can unlock service medals after fulfilling specific requirements in CS2. Service medals reward the time spent in CS2 since playing the game and gathering XP is the primary way to get them.
While getting your first service medal is a straightforward process, leveling it up is another story.
How can you get a Service Medal in CS2?
To get a service medal in CS2, you need to earn XP and achieve rank 40 (Global General.) There are plenty of ways to earn XP in CS2. As long as you’re playing CS2 on Valve’s official servers, you’ll receive decent sums of XP after each match.
We’d personally recommend playing competitive matches since they tend to have the best XP rewards. The overall match quality is also noticeably better in competitive matches, and you can increase your rank in the process.
After reaching rank 40, you’ll have the option to get the first Service Medal, Grey. Once you claim the Service Medal, your rank will reset to one. If you get to 40 again, you’ll unlock the next Service Medal tier until reaching level six.
To claim your Service Medal:
Select your profile name on the main menu.
Tap on the “Get Service Medal” button that appears after rank 40
Check your inventory to see the Service Badge.
What do the colors mean in CS2 Service Medals?
Colors technically indicate rarity for CS2 service medals because it’s quite difficult to unlock all of them. To collect all Service Medals, you’d need to achieve rank 40 six times, and that’s quite a significant time investment.
What are the rarest Service Medals in CS2?
The rarest Service Medal in CS2 is red, which requires players to achieve the Global General rank six times.
While unlocking the first two medals is possible with modest play times, getting the medals beyond that means some serious time commitment.
How to farm XP fast to unlock Service Medals in CS2
To farm XP fast in CS2 and unlock Service Medals, you can take advantage of specific in-game mechanics like weekly bonuses. Each week, you’ll have a pool of 5,000 bonus XP. Out of this pool, 3,500 XP will be awarded by tripling the amount of XP you get in a match. The leftover 1,500 XP, on the other hand, will match your XP from each game.
The weekly reset occurs every Wednesday or Tuesday if you’re in the US. Using up your bonus every week is a great way to maximize your progress toward Service Medals. If you’ve already used your bonus, you should simply continue playing in Valve servers and complete any seasonal or event-related quests in the meantime.
Considering CS2 skins can be expensive, collecting service medals emerges as a more budget-friendly alternative for players looking to highlight their love for the game. If you’d like to avoid the time investment, though, it’s possible to build a premium CS2 inventory without breaking the bank and you might also get lucky while opening some of the best CS2 skin cases in the game.
